Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness. -Maya Angelou

Four UIL Sweepstakes Trophies

Updated Tuesday, August 24, 2010

UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest is set up so that a majority of Superior (class 1) ratings from the three judges in the two competition divisions (Concert and Sightreading) results in a Sweepstakes Trophy. This is the highest award given to Texas choirs by the University Interscholastic League.

The Lovejoy High School Choirs participated in UIL competition today with four groups: Concert Women, Varsity Mixed, Combined Varsity Men, and Varsity Women. All four choirs received an overall Superior rating in both Concert and Sightreading, and all choirs received the coveted Sweepstakes Trophies. To this date, Lovejoy Choirs have never received anything less than Sweepstakes at Contest, and these students are very proud of living up to the tradition they have worked so hard to establish. They performed at a very high level of artistry - Way to go Lovejoy Choirs!
