About the Program

The Lovejoy High Choir Department strives to enrich students' lives through musical excellence and strong relationships. In 2006 the choir department had only thirteen students and now the program consists of 195 students in seven choirs. Lovejoy Choirs have exclusively earned Sweepstakes Awards at UIL Concert and Sight-reading competition. They have performed in venues such as St. John the Divine in New York City and at the Vatican in Rome. In February 2013 the Lovejoy Varsity Women's Choir was selected as a State Honor Choir for the Texas Music Educators' Association Convention in San Antonio. This semester, they will sing at local nursing homes and will travel to Disney World in Orlando in November.

2018-2019 Choir Council

Hi! My name’s Hallie and I will be serving as the choir president for the upcoming school year. I have been involved in choir for 7 years, 5 of those years being at Lovejoy. I am also involved in our theatre program and have been in over 12 shows. In my free time I enjoy long walks on the beach and wearing my trusty pairs of Chacos. I am looking forward to this year and I am so excited to get to know every one of our wonderful choir members.
Hey I’m Shalin and I’m going to be Vice President. Choir’s one of my favorite classes, so i’m happy to be involved more. I look awkward in pictures (and all the time ever) so here’s a picture my brother took of me giving him a thumbs up one time.
Hi! My name is Marcie and I am currently a senior, and I am so honored to serve as the Chief of Staff for Lovejoy Choir this year! This is my seventh year in choir, and in those years I have been actively involved in multiple pop groups and the all region choirs! I am also involved in Lovejoy Theatre. Some of my favorite roles include Liesl in Sound of Music and Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream! In my free time, I love taking trips to Walt Disney World and watching the esteemed “Voices of Liberty”. I am excited for a great year!
Hey, I’m Audrey!! I am excited to serve as Secretary/Historian for my second and final year as a choir member. This year is going to be one for the books and i look forward to all of the fun new activities Council is planning. I love Harry Potter and Hiking as well as COFFEE (& I love my brother more than anything in this world). I do not like wrists so don’t cross me.

Sylvia is a senior here at Lovejoy and has been in choir since the 6th grade. She loves choir and is also involved in broadcast journalism, theatre, and A Cappella. She’s really excited for this year and can’t wait to see all this council does.

Katherine is a senior, and this is her third year at Lovejoy. She is excited for all of the opportunities this year presents and looks forward to integrating novel ideas in choir.

Natalie is so excited for the opportunity to work on the 2018/19 Choir Council! This is her Senior year and her seventh year in a Lovejoy Choir. She looks forward to working with this amazing group of students and can’t wait to see what the year brings!

Hello! My name is Sydney and I am so excited to be part of choir council this year. I will be a sophomore and being on choir council is a wonderful opportunity! I am looking forward to organizing the uniforms because organizing is a hobby of mine. I am also excited to work with the other members of the council to make choir a great place to be!! I would like to encourage more group activities to engage the underclassmen. I am very excited to be apart of a wonderful council for a wonderful organization!!

Hi, I’m Sophia! I am so excited for next school year on choir council. I will be a junior, and I’m looking forward to my next two years in choir. I hope to get to know more people in choir and make new friends, as well as help with organization in the program. I have 2 dogs and they wouldn’t participate in a group photo, so here’s two pictures with one in each. The first is Ginger Ale (lab/husky mix) and the second in Rootbeer (Airedale).

Hello Choir! My name is Hannah, and I will be one of your librarians this upcoming year! I am a rising Sophomore, and this will be my 5th year of Lovejoy Choir. This next year I want to make sure that the year runs smoothly by helping to organize our music. I also want to make new friends both in the upper and under classes, as well as have a successful choir year!
